Article as home page

Hi,

I am trying to set a specific article "About" as my site home page.

I have changed Admin/General/Navigation Use Tiki feature as homepage: to "Custom Home" and I have checked "Use URL Index" and entered a the full url to the article in "Use different URL as homepage:"

It doesn't work My site always displays the Wiki home page?

Can somebody let me know what else I need to do (I'm sure I must have missed something obvious 😕

By "article" do you mean a wiki page? (I'm guessing so, judging from the title "About". Tiki has another feature "Articles".) Anyway, the "use different URL as homepage" seems to be broken in Tiki 6.2, and possibly earlier versions. But you could specify "About" as your wiki home page (if "About" is a wiki page), and then set the Wiki homepage as your site homepage, if that would work.

Thx for the reply.

By Article, I mean Article (as in an article made from the article feature 😉

This article is not intended as part of my Wiki (and definitly not as the Wiki home page). However, if I can't use it as my site home page then I may have to find another work-a-round.

Where do I turn on "error reporting"?

You should select Tiki Feature: Article — not Custom Home — as the Home page.

See this primerQuestion for more information.

Well, that was my first thought. But that just makes my home page a list of the articles. I would like for my home page to display one of those articles.

Thanks for the clarification. Normally, you could use the "Use URL as site index" option, but this seems to be buggy (i.e., doesn't work), in the current Tiki release.

One workaround might be to set the wiki feature to be the site homepage, and then on the "HomePage" wiki page, use the Article plugin to display the article that you want to show.

It's not just the "Use URL" but also the "Use Wiki Feature" that has stopped working in 6.2. See my detailed post in the admin/install forum:

https://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=40663&topics_offset=7&topics_sort_mode=lastPost_desc&forumId=6Question

This pretty much leaves me with a wiki page as the only option for a home page which is a bummer as my site has always had a blog so it's very character is gone.

I'm going to try a redirect from the server side.

Thanks Unclegeo,

I guess a redirect is the only solution then (at least for now).

Also, since I too have a home button that now links back to the Wiki, I have changed this to the actual url of my preferred article home page and it works a treat.

Haloo everyone,, this is my first post,, =)

Perhaps this will help you bit,
u can edit the homapage via Wiki/page/create new page (which is contain the article) and then in the Admin's menus choose general and set the Homepage with the name of the created page..
