Turning features off errors?

Seems to me, tiki does not like it when you turn certain features off. Specifically the wiki. My site has no use for the wiki but turning it off causes some issues with others parts of the site, for example creating ajax errors in the rich text editor.

While I understand this is not a module based cms and everything has a dependence to other parts it would be nice to be able to turn off features you don't want, need without a negative domino effect on others. I shouldn't be forced to have the wiki page up, on the main menu if I have 0 need for it.

I am not finding the option to edit the main menu.

I've watched your video and read the docs and frankly the whole menu thing makes little sense to me. Perhaps I was spoiled by the ease of simplicity of DNN that I used previously but this seems unnecessarily complicated. While I like tiki I really miss some aspects of DNN. I'd have this menu thing done in 60 secs tops using it for example. But I digress.

First I don't get the whole option and section relationship. It's not clear how you link the 2 to make a sub-menu. I understand in theory but not in practice. I suppose I just don't get how you link the two as playing with various settings does nothing but break the menu in my testing. Any help appreciated.

If your menu is only a single depth, you can make everything an Option. Otherwise, use can use the different Section types to create a multi-level menu. For example:

  • Section 0
    • Option
    • Option
    • Section 1
      • Option
      • Option
      • Section 2
      • Section 2
        • Option

Feel free to use the Demo site to create a sample (http://demo.tiki.org) if you want others to check your work.

In 12.x The admins menu has it at admin>menu
You create a new menu for non-admins without the wiki and make sure only admins can see the admins menu.

Under 14.x it seems as though you go Menu>settings>menu.
