Multilangual forumS

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to set multilingual forumS with Tiki. Something like :

Main entrance of the forum part.
A forum dedicated to english, one to russian, one to french, one to hebrew.

That mean different encoding for each one and even different layout.

Another challenge ? :-)

There are two issues in coding Hebrew and Arabic:

  1. The character set: in principle, this is taken care of quite simply by the fact that Tiki uses UTF-8 character encoding, which means (as the message shows) that - bar bugs sad - it can quite happily cope with pretty much any character display. This is reasonably straightforward as long as your browser/OS can cope with UTF-8 and as long as you have the right character set installed.
  2. Another much more tricky problem is right-to-left character display. There are all sorts of horrible things about RTL (for example, the fact that text tends to be stored in reverse order in databases, so that the sort routines still work ok). Suggest you look here for some information and hints:

Ok and thanks !

As i keep continuing my way about multilingual, i would like to ask 3 questions.

- Is it possible to mixt styles (css) onto the same wiki ?
(i read about a css BiDi.css has been written for a right to left site, where it can be found ?)

- As i'm not fluent in hebrew i will ask someone to comlpete the tiki translation for this language. Things are that in Israel only dev use Linux (even if gouvt sign as stopped buying MS for Linux). Can you suggest a good but simple editor to edit the PHP files for hebrew language on XP ?

- Is it possible to have a "div" right on the tiki forum ?

Have a nice day
