Custom Home Posted by Steel_Rat 25 Aug 2006 16:57 UTC I enabled the Custom Home feature, but nothing currently in the custom-home.tpl is showing up on the home page. Is there another setting that needs to be switched on?
Posted by Rick Sapir / Tiki for Smarties 26 Aug 2006 02:12 UTC Did you possible make a SMARTY typo in the TPL file? Try replacing your custom-home.tpl with a known good file. Posted by Steel_Rat 26 Aug 2006 16:01 UTC Actually I didn't make any changes at all. I expected the out of the box custom home to show up on the home page, and it doesn't. It's supposed to display whatever is put in there, so shouldn't it show the default custom home content? > Did you possible make a SMARTY typo in the TPL file? > > Try replacing your custom-home.tpl with a known good file. > > HTH, > > -Rick > > > I enabled the Custom Home feature, but nothing currently in the custom-home.tpl is showing up on the home page. Posted by Steel_Rat 26 Aug 2006 21:44 UTC What I'm looking to do is have content like last Blog posting, last Article, last Wiki, etc, show up on the home page in the content are, not the left or right menus. Will Custom Home do that?
Posted by Rick Sapir / Tiki for Smarties 27 Aug 2006 11:42 UTC You can do this with a regular wiki page by using plugins. See PluginArticle for adding articles or use http://doc.tikiwiki.org/PluginModule to add any module. Posted by Steel_Rat 28 Aug 2006 19:16 UTC That kinda works, though the Wiki formatting doesn't really work well on the inserted modules. Thanks for that, though. The other problem, however, is that assigning modules to a group still shows the module to someone outside the group, but they can't see the content. Example, an image gallery for Registered users only, will still show the Last Images module to an anonymous user, but the images themselves don't load. I think it would be prefereable for the module to not be visible at all if the user doesn't belong to the group. Otherwise people will think your page doesn't work properly. > You can do this with a regular wiki page by using plugins. It isn't normal behavior for a module to be visible to groups that aren't assigned for it. Are you sure "Display modules to all groups always" is not activated, on the Admin General page? -- Gary

However (you knew there would be a however 😉 ). I have multiple image galleries, and only one is visible to registered or anonymous users. The Last_image_th module still shows up for anonymous users, which it should, but it tries to show content from galleries the anonymous user isn't allowed to see, thus showing the no-image default for the browser. It really should respect the permissions settings for the gallery and not even attempt to show images from galleries the user isn't allowed to see. So Last Images for an anonymous user would be different than for a user in the special group.
Posted by syberjj 01 Sep 2006 00:41 UTC well, i'm not quite shure if i understood your problem... but isn't i easyer to activate "Use group homepages:" in "Administration:> General" ? so you can have one homepage for unregistered users without any modules and another homepage for each other group, or one other homepage for all other groups and so on. Newest Blog Posts No records to display > That kinda works, though the Wiki formatting doesn't really work well on the inserted modules. Thanks for that, though. if you are having the same kind of formating problems than me, then puting the module in a div will help you. like this: Copy to clipboard{DIV(float=>right,width=>250px)}{MODULE(module=>last_blog_posts,align=>right,max=>3)/}{DIV} using this you can have a module apear anywhere on your page. in this case, aligned right. hope this helps you
Posted by Steel_Rat 01 Sep 2006 01:28 UTC Still trying to figure all this out. I see how to enable group homepages, but how do I set a homepage for anonymous where the last_image_th module only shows the gallery where anonymous and Registered have view access? And how the heck do I create another Wiki page? lol.

I see how to enable group homepages, but how do I set a homepage for anonymous where the last_image_th module only shows the gallery where anonymous and Registered have view access? I don't know if a distinct home page can be set for "anonymous". I imagine whatever you set for "Home page" on Admin General is the de facto home page for anonymous users. > And how the heck do I create another Wiki page? lol. Just make a link to the new (so far unmade) page in an existing page, save the existing-page edit, and when it redisplays, there'll be the link with a question mark which you click to get to the new page, to edit it. Or use the URL "editpage.php?page=MyNewPage", input the content and save. Or use the "Quick edit wiki page" module. -- Gary
Posted by Steel_Rat 01 Sep 2006 16:23 UTC Well I figured out that the last_images_th module will take a parameter, gelleryId. So I can place the module inline for the Anonymous access page and have it show only the gallery they should see. Tried to figure out how to make it display horizontally instead of vertically, but couldn't decipher where that formatting was occurring in the module or the include file.

The layout is set in the module's template file: a table is made for each image, and the default behavior of tables is to go full-width and tile downward. Here's an early (or late) birthday present. 😉 For the images to tile horizontally, I made last_images_th module file mutants called last_images_th_horizon.tpl and last_images_th_horiz.php, which are zipped together and attached here. Unzip the files and upload the php file to your /modules directory and the tpl file to the templates/modules directory. Then use it in a wiki page something like {MODULE(module=>last_images_th_horiz,align=>left, max=10,decorations=>n,width=100%)}{MODULE}. The tpl file has some inline CSS that tells the images to float left; that's what makes them go horizontal. You can put the module within a DIV plugin with a float=right parameter if you want it to be flush right instead of flush left. See an example at this test page. -- Gary last_images_th_horiz.zip (1000 b)
