Share the Google CSE module

Hi guys!

Our homepage switched to the Google Customer Search, as we decided to present the "after rendering" code in the preview of the search results.

For this I created a TikiWiki module. I would like to present it for you in order to get new suggestions and your opinion about this MOD/module.

You can download the MOD from here: http://umija.org/mods/Dist/modules-google-cse-0.1.tgzQuestion

On our pageQuestion you could find the German Google CSE in TikiWiki HowtoQuestion.

A short summary about this Howto:
The module could be installed automatically if you use http://umija.org/mods as your MODs Server. After that you will find a Module with the name google-cse in your "modules - admin" menue. Select it and add the following three parameters in the parameters field:

  • id = the long number provided to you by google
  • site = URL to the site where the results should be presented
  • size = the size of the text field

example: id=01231209834:as31234&site=/relativ_seite&size=22

After that you should create the wiki page, that you insert to site parameter and insert the following content to it:

Copy to clipboard
{div id="results_YOUR ID HERE"} {/div} {JS()} var googleSearchIframeName = 'results_YOUR ID HERE'; var googleSearchFormName = 'searchbox_YOUR ID HERE'; var googleSearchFrameWidth = 600; var googleSearchFrameborder = 0; var googleSearchDomain = 'www.google.com'; var googleSearchPath = '/cse'; {JS} {JS(file='http://www.google.com/afsonline/show_afs_search.js'}{JS}

NOTE: You should exchange the "{" "}" brackets around the div part with the ">" "<" brackets.

Cheers,
EduardQuestion

Nicely done. Very similar to the approach I took here.

Hi Rick,

Yes, I found your Blog about the CSE and linked it also from my Howto page. Unfortunately I found it after I did the work, it would be much easier if I had found it before 😉
