Date Format

Hi folks,

When viewing calendars, the very short date format is Month/Day (eg 11th of Sep becomes 9/11) in the backward US style. My wiki is targetting an Australian audience that will want Day/Month (11th Sep is written 11/9).

I would expect this to be a personal option for each user but I can't find such a setting and it does not appear to have been set by setting my Country to Australia. Out of curiosity, does that country setting result in any preference changes or is it just for colour?

Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean!

Try here to change the general setting:
tiki-admin.php?page=general

There is no time/date format override per user (AFAIK).

Best regards,

M 😉

Thanks for the suggestion, Marc but no. That refers to the long and short date formats (which you see here on the date line of each post) but not what I term the "very short" date format, eg 9/11 or 11/9 which is used in the calendar.

I appreciate your reply though. It seems that Tiki doesn't have a particularly lively community (or I'm asking in the wrong place!)

You didn't mention which Tiki version you're using, but in 1.9.8 the month/date shown in the calendar box appears to be hardcoded to use your server's short_format_day setting. 😑

You can change this by editing the tiki-calendar.tpl template. Look for the line:

Copy to clipboard
< a href="tiki-calendar.php?todate={$cell[w][d].day}" title="{tr}change focus{/tr}"> {$cell[w][d].day|date_format:$short_format_day} < /a>

And change the $short_format_day to use whatever format you like. If you wan to use Tiki's short format (as Marc suggests), change it to:

Copy to clipboard
{$cell[w][d].day|date_format:tiki_short_date}

Thanks for the suggestion, Rick. I'll give it a whirl.
