Development

New to Tikiwiki and new to development

Hi, some weeks ago I checked out Tikiwiki 3.0 from SVN and started looking at the code to get into development. I had never heard about Tikiwiki before, so I´m very new.

At the moment I shall develop three things for our new Tikiwiki installation.

1. A module that lists all file galleries, not only the latest. (solutionQuestion)
2. Make assigning permissions to objects easier (simplify it) (solution 1Question, solution 2Question).
3. Something like "daily reports" for watches so that you get a summary off all changes at your watchpoints once a day.

//Edit:
For sending daily reports I need something like a cronjob that calls the script at a specified time and sends the reports.
If I want that the user can set the time when the report is sent, I need many cronjobs. Has tikiwiki an interface for this or do you have a better suggestion?

I think point 1 and 3 are interesting for Tikiwiki and I want to know if I can check them into the SVN repository or who I have to ask for access.
On point 2 i´m not shure how heavy this section is under development and if the things I did (please take a look at the screenshots of my two solutions) can be permanently added because they are "hard coded".

On point 3 I´m not sure if something like this already exist. If yes, please tell me.
Ohh and of course please tell me if you have any suggestion for improving the things I did.

bye

Hi Floh1111 and welcome to TikiWiki Community! 😉

Please, you are welcome to discuss your proposal of changes in the tikiwiki-devel on sf.net list (which has more attention from all the other developers than in this forum)
http://sf.net/mail/?group_id=64258Question

1. This is going to be very handy! 😊
3. As far as I know, nobody has already done that, and it will be very welcome by many users/communities using tiki.

2. Permission system in Tiki will be changed in tiki 4.0, and there is an active discussion about it that list these days. Please, join the dicussion, and I see you change as something very needed for new users, which could be somehow linked to the "user levels" feature started (and not finished) by mose, so that begginer-level users could have a simpler interface shown (by default) to handle permissions on objects, plus some expandable button somewhere saying: "advanced feature: manage full list of permissions", which would open the traditional interface to set all/any permission on that object, etc.

My 2 cents.

But definitively, your hacks will be very welcome, provided they comply with the 3 rules (so that they would need to be optional)
