Documentation

A complete newbie, but a few basic questions about doc features

Hi, I am accessing this site for the first time. But the software looks fascinating! Our organization is looking for a better way to provide online documentation to users, developers and customers. May I ask a few very basic questions?

1. Is there a way to export/import content of documentation chapters or documents with Word?

2. Is there a way of importing our existing HTML documentation into TikiWiki. It is basically a bunch of pages in hand-coded HTML created over 10+ years with dozens of pages and perhaps thousands of links.

I'll start with that.

Much thanks,

doug

p.s. Are these forums also part of TikiWiki? The editor and "look and feel" are very nice!

Hopefully people with more experience in this area can give more info, but basically, if you activate the WYSIWYG editor, you can paste the source of your existing HTML pages into the editor and they'll display fine. Of course this would be a one-at-a-time process. I don't know offhand if there's a bulk import method.

For Word docs, I guess if you can export the files as HTML, they could also be done one by one as above. Again I'm not sure if there's a bulk import method.

Yes, these forums and all the features of this site are Tiki.

Thanks, Gary. I will try some tests. I am worried about the link working within the wiki though - like internally consistent wiki links.

p.s. It looks like we are neighbors You are in Chiba and I'm in Shinkoiwa, just 2 stops from Chiba (prefecture anyway) on the Sobu line.
