Tracker field with different units of measure
I wish to track the length of various objects. Some will be entered in meters, some in decimal feet, and some in feet and inches.
I can do it as simple text, but then I cannot sort it.
I could have a field for the number and an option field for the unit type. But I imagine the feet and inches version would need two fields. For sorting, the numbers would have to be converted to common units (I could store a converted value in a hidden field for performance). All the conversion and GUI manipulation will be difficult for me to do in Tiki.
Has anyone else tackled this problem in any way whatsoever? Care to share your tips for doing this as easily and efficiently as possible?
