Blog Not Loading

I've set Tikiwiki up, in hopes to use it for a class collaboration project we've got to get done in the next couple days, but so far I've spent more time setting this thing up and no time on my actual project. At the moment, I got my File Gallery working, got my menu like I want, but the blog New Post page hangs. It loads the blue box background, has a space for the Title and Body, but doesn't load anymore than that. The LOADING icon with the peppermint-stick spiral just sits there and twirls and twirls. What have I done wrong?

Version 12.3, fivealive theme.

Thank you in advance.

Some things to check:

  • Are any errors reported in the browser status bar?
  • Did you turn on Tiki's error reporting? Were any Tiki errors displayed?
  • Did you use thetiki-check to confirm that

Offhand, I'd say it sounds like a conflict with the Ajax Autoload or WYWIWYG options. Can you try disabling them and trying agian?

Thank you for the quick reply.
Your question about the browser status bar made me realize neither Firefox nor Chrome really have a status bar anymore.  There haven't been any errors that I've seen popup anywhere.  But in my frustration last night, I must not have tried more than just Firefox.  This morning I find it works in Chrome!  ?!?  I'm hoping that's a clue?

Error Reporting/Tiki check:  It's not my server (InMotion Hosting), so do I have access to these things?  I don't remember error reporting being one of the questions I was asked when setting tikiwiki up.  I saw questions about WYSIWYG so I'll go try that, but don't remember anything about Ajax. Where do I find that?

Thank you!

If it works in one browser, but not another, you should check to see if any of your browser extensions or add-ons are blocking any of the Tiki scripts.  With FireFox, you can use a tool such as Firebug to see exactly what is happening.

You can turn on Tiki's error checking on the Admin: General page.

You can toggle the Ajax and Autosave settings on the Admin: WYSIWYG page.

Remember, you can find any Tiki setting by using the Configuraiton Search option (on each Admin page).

If you're new to Tiki, you may find my primer useful.

Turning off the WYSIWYG editor seems to solve the problem for now.  I may revisit this a few months down the road, as I originally loaded tikiwiki for something else (bigger, personal project) and that WYSIWYG thing may come in handy.  Not familiar enough with tikiwiki at the moment to know.  But I hope to!

Thank you.  Now off to finish this stupid class project that is taking way too many hours of my life!  :)

P.S.  I'm one of those non-traditional students.  I've got credit hours older than some of the kids in my class.  ;)
