The version of the twist theme that is used is old and did not correctly template error.tpl . That is why the error page looks so very different (does not include the header). You should upload the newest version.
The blank pages sure look like a php memory issue to me.
I agree that switching to a standard theme to debug is the best first step. Can you get tiki-phpinfo.php to work using a standard theme?
