Happy 24th Anniversary, Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware!

Alain CISIRIKA -

On October 7, 2026, Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware turns 24!

It began in 2002 with a simple vision from Luis Argerich: a completely free, fully featured CMS that anyone could use. Twenty-four years later, that idea is still going strong, thanks to the people who keep it alive.

Tiki 30 LTS Is Here

Alain CISIRIKA -
🎉We are happy to announce the release of Tiki 30 LTS.

Another Tiki release is always more than a new version number. It is the result of months of coding, testing, fixing, reviewing, translating, documenting, and discussing, with contributions from people across the Tiki community. Tiki 30 continues that tradition while bringing the platform forward in several important areas.

As an LTS (Long-Term Support) release, Tiki 30 provides a stable foundation for organizations looking for a Tiki version to deploy and maintain for the coming years.

Modernization under the hood

A lot of work in Tiki 30 happens behind the scenes. Dependencies and development tools have been updated, older components have been replaced, and compatibility with newer versions of PHP and other technologies has been improved. This work may not always be visible, but it is important for keeping a platform that has been evolving for more than 20 years healthy and maintainable

New Security Updates Released for Tiki 30 LTS, 29, 27 LTS and 24 LTS and Upgrade is Strongly Recommended

Alfred Syatsukwa -

We have released Tiki 30.1, Tiki 29.4, Tiki 27.8 and Tiki 24.15 to address vulnerabilities affecting the related branches.

These releases include a mix of security fixes and stability improvements. We strongly urges all site administrators to apply these updates immediately.

Vulnerable versions include:

  • Tiki 30.0
  • Tiki 29.3 and earlier
  • Tiki 27.7 and earlier
  • Tiki 24.14 and earlier

If you are running any of these versions, please update your website without delay to protect your data, users, and overall system integrity. These releases also include stability improvements that reinforce the long-term reliability of your Tiki instance.

What's New?

For a detailed breakdown of all changes please see:

Happy 23rd Anniversary, Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware!🎉

Alain CISIRIKA -

October 9, 2025, marks 23 years of innovation, collaboration, and resilience for Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware. What began in 2002 as a vision by Luis Argerich to create a completely free, fully featured CMS has grown into one of the most robust, flexible, and community-driven Open Source platforms in the world.

Tiki 29 Is Released — A Feature-Rich Update with Modernization, UX Enhancements, and Privacy Tools

Gary Cunningham-Lee -
🎉 The Tiki community is proud to announce the release of Tiki 29, the latest Standard Term Support (STS) version of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware. This release brings a wide array of improvements, modernizations, and new features that continue to make Tiki one of the most comprehensive and flexible Open Source web applications available.

Tiki 29 will be supported until the release of Tiki 30.1, in accordance with the Tiki lifecycle policyQuestion.

🚀 Highlights for general users

Tiki 29 brings a wide range of enhancements and additions for general users and editors. For example, Summernote has been added as the new WYSIWYG editor, replacing CKEditor 4 for improved editing and styling capabilities. A new "Back to Top" button aids page navigation. Users can generate an avatar with DiceBear as an alternative to uploading their own profile picture. And there's a new option to enable all collapsible sections on a page to be collapsed or expanded with a single click.

Interactive Translations: Collaborative i18n Tiki Site – The Second Iteration

Bruno Kambere -

Fourteen years ago, the Tiki community launched something bold: an interactive translation system that allowed contributors to translate the Tiki interface directly in context. It worked beautifully, supporting more than 40 languages, running on a server dedicated to this purpose, and contributing translations directly into the source code (using SVNQuestion, the version-control technology widely used at that time). That first iteration showed how internationalization (i18n) could be made fun, accessible, and community-driven.

Tiki 27.0 LTS: A Leap Forward for Collaborative Software

Gary Cunningham-Lee -
The Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware community is excited to announce the release of Tiki 27.0 LTS. This Long-Term Support (LTS) version, which promises to be a game-changer for those anticipating the feature enhancements, will be supported until June 2029.

Tiki 27.0 LTS is not a typical LTS release, which usually focuses on refining features rather than introducing major changes. This time, the Tiki developers have implemented significant updates, including Smarty 5 and a new build system. These enhancements are steps in a continuum, with more major changes coming in Tiki 28. The effort from Tiki 24 LTS to Tiki 27 LTS represents, by far, the most development work (quantity, complexity, and repayment of technical debt) that has gone into Tiki between any two LTS releases, including thousands of code commits and the most challenging PHP upgrade in Tiki's 20+ year history. Thanks to EvoluDataQuestion and all the Tiki developersQuestion who made this possible.

This version supports PHP 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3, along with MariaDB 10.5+ and MySQL 8+, ensuring compatibility with the latest server technologies.

Major enhancements

These are some of the features receiving major enhancements: Tiki's API functionality was expanded to support data and system management for Internet of Things (IoT) networks. Major changes were made in calendar event handling, recurring events, and the ability to specify periods of user availability when creating events and to specify appointment slots. And the Markdown editing experience was made more user-friendly while retaining compatibility with traditional Tiki syntax, via the TOAST UI editor. Webmail has also been enhanced as Cypht was upgraded from version 1.4x to 2.0x.

Continuous improvement

Along with the move forward in PHP version support, the Smarty template engine was updated from version 4 to 5. In other areas, the search feature, including semantic search, have been enhanced, and the onsite user-mentions feature has been improved with new features . . . .

My thoughts on Cypht Webmail

Marc Laporte -

Over the last 5 years, I have become increasingly involved in Cypht, an Open Source webmail client.

This project is awesome! It permits me to:

  • aggregate emails from various sources in one nice list
  • search throughout multiple accounts
  • move emails to the right account (work vs personal vs volunteer, etc.)
  • automate email management with Sieve filters
  • all via a web interface, so I have the same experience on all my devices (mobile or desktop)

WikiSuite is 13 years old!

Marc Laporte -

So I launched this 13 years ago! I am very pleased with the current state and progress. It will just get better and better as the community grows 😊

Here were the initial vision/goals/plans:

A slideshow: https://wikisuite.org/Initial-SlideshowQuestion
An interview (in French): https://wikisuite.org/Initial-InterviewQuestion

It was originally called "Tiki Suite" as a suite of tools around Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware, and also because suite also means next in French. So the next step for Tiki 😊

A giant in Open Source: Jonny Bradley's 10,000 Commits to Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware

Ndiwayesu -

In the dynamic realm of Open Source collaboration, where lines of code narrate tales of dedication, Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware stands out as a versatile and robust platform, empowering communities with a comprehensive suite of content management, collaboration, and communication tools. Within this vibrant ecosystem, Jonny Bradley reflects the spirit of community-driven projects. With over 10,000 commits to Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware, Jonny's journey represents more than a numerical milestone; it's a saga of commitment, growth, and the enduring power of shared passion.

Happy 21st Anniversary, Tiki!

John Santos -

Today, we raise a virtual toast to celebrate the remarkable journey of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware as it turns 21. What began as a modest wiki with extras in 2002 has blossomed into a versatile web application, shaping the landscape of intranets, websites, portals, knowledge bases, and more. Tiki has not just stood the test of time; it has evolved into a tech powerhouse.

Tiki 26 Release Continues Rapid Feature Development

Gary Cunningham-Lee -

Following the project's biggest-ever release, Tiki 25, seven months ago, the pace of code commits has only accelerated and now Tiki 26Question is available with significant new features, further development of recent feature additions, and the usual bug fixes and enhancements.

New features include color mode support, so Tiki sites are responsive to the user's browser color scheme preference and can be toggled between light, dark, and auto (with more configurability options coming soon). A new emoji picker enables picking and inserting emojis (finally 😬). Tiki 26 includes a new theme, BookStacked, an implementation of the BookStack web app appearance. Interact.js and a URL fragment guesser have also been added.

Enhancements have been made to Cypht webmail, Calendars, the debugger console, InterTiki (for inter-Tiki-website interaction), Manticore search, Tiki's Markdown implementation, several modules, Tablesorter, Tiki Crawl for web scraping and web crawling, and the tracker feature. See https://doc.tiki.org/Tiki26Question for more details.

Tiki 26 has been updated to benefit from the higher performance and new features of PHP 8.1. See RequirementsQuestion for more information about Tiki and PHP versions.

This release is available for downloadQuestion or installation via gitQuestion or Tiki ManagerQuestion.

Many thanks to all who contributed to developing and testing Tiki 26.

Tiki is free Open Source software that is made possible by individual volunteer efforts and donated funds and services. If you would like to help the project continue, please visit the page Contribute to Tiki. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
